A fine all round player, Kishan excels as a specialist batsman, keeper and wicket keeper in domestic cricket, but has also been a part of the India team for the past two years.
Kishan is the latest signing for the Indian Cricket League and has made his debut for the league’s XI Mumbai iPL. Playing all three positions, Kishan has made a name for himself as a match winner and is considered one of the best in the country.
An experienced legspinner, Kishan boasts an excellent record, with a high batting average and a reputation as a good all round player.
His ability to take multiple catches and make them count is highlighted by the fact that he was selected as a standby player at the recent World Cup, despite having missed the earlier editions due to injury.
Kishan first came into the limelight as a regular member of the Indian team when he was selected to the squad that was formed to play the under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh.
Playing at No. 3, Kishan proved to be a valuable player, taking four catches, including the winner against Australia in their final match, and playing some good all round cricket.
Kishan is the leading wicket taker for Mumbai in the IPL, having taken 101 wickets at 14.3 runs an over. Kishan is also one of only three Indians to have scored more than 100 runs in each of the first and second innings in each game he has played, and one of only three to have made more than fifty in either innings.
Kishan has also taken more than two wickets in each game and more than a hundred runs.
He played a major role in helping India won the third ODI series in England last year and is expected to again provide much-needed support in the upcoming series against West Indies.
Kishan’s versatility as a proven batsmen, with a strong all round game, has helped India earn five of the seven Test series wins they have this season, including a victory in the one-day series against West Indies at home.
Kishan is expected to add some muscle to his game against the West Indies in the forthcoming match, and to challenge for a place in the Indian batting line up.
Kishan is the leading wicket taker for Mumbai in the IPL season so far, having taken a haul of 20 wickets in eight matches.

Alongside fellow Indian openers Ashok Dinda and Mohammed Shami, Kishan will lead Mumbai in attack, but the Mumbai captain, MS Dhoni, will need to keep an eye on him.
Both openers will hope to put on an impressive performance against a West Indies side that has been the top Test team in the world this season, but who are known to have a relatively easy time of it.
Kishan made his international debut for India against Sri Lanka in November 2020 and has already expressed his desire to continue in that role for the coming Tests.
He has also been a key player in India’s recent victories against Pakistan and England, as well as at home against Bangladesh.
Kishan has already established himself as a regular part of the India Test squad and has started his own career at international level, so if his form continues at this rate, it would not be surprising to see him in the Indian team for a long time.
It will be interesting to see if the new-look West Indies management plan to try and manage him, or get him into their side sooner rather than later.
